Covid-scare in the Ashes 2021-22, England coach to isolate after returning covid positive

Covid-scare in the Ashes 2021-22, England coach to isolate after returning covid positive: The ongoing Ashes 2021-22 hasn’t been of its kind due to England’s inability to deliver a high profile contest. The tournament has already reached its verdict where Australia have retained the series after conquering England in the opening three matches convincingly.

The visitors batting has been a talking point ever since the Ashes 2021-22 kicked off. England players couldn’t adapt to the conditions owing to which they have been unable to perform, resulting in losing the all-important Ashes 2021-22.

To add salt to their wounds, England’s head coach Chris Silverwood will have to isolate himself in Melbourne for 10 days after one more covid positive case emerged in the visitors camp, taking the total tally to seven.

Despite the fact that Silverwood has returned covid negative, he has been asked to isolate himself in Melbourne. The coach will miss the new year test in Sydney. Assistant coach Graham Thorpe will cover his place in the team.

“The touring party have recorded seven positive cases – three support staff and four family members – since a PCR testing regime was implemented on Monday 27 December,” said ECB in a statement.

“A fourth successive round of PCR tests will be administered today (Thursday).

“Both teams – England and Australia – are due to fly to Sydney via a chartered flight on Friday morning.”

Fortunately, the series will go as planned as no playing member of the touring party is found covid positive.

Daily testings are done after the four covid cases emerged in the English camp, earlier in the week. Two support staff and two family members were tested covid positives.

The fourth test match between Australia and England will begin on 5th January in Sydney Cricket Ground. The final of the series is slated to begin on 14th January.
