Simon Helmot likely to replace Simon Katich in SRH as assistant coach for IPL 2022

Simon Helmot likely to replace Simon Katich in SRH as assistant coach for IPL 2022.

Former Australian cricketer Simon Helmot is likely to replace SRH’s former assistant coach Simon Katich in the upcoming season fifteen of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Katich, who was announced SRH’s assistant coach a while back, has given his resignation to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before the tournament could even start.

As per the reports, Simon Katich wasn’t pleased with the strategy of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the recently held Tata IPL 2022 mega Auction. The franchise did pick up a couple of quality cricketers, but that didn’t go well with the assistant coach.

Katich was reported to be baffled with the franchise as they didn’t follow the pre-planned strategy during the auctions and as a result, ended up buying players with a hefty price tag.

As of now, Simon Katich has decided to part ways with SRH owing to the dispute in the auction strategy.

However, the franchise has decided to rope in Katich’s fellow countrymen, Simon Helmot as the replacement. Helmot will be SRH’s newest assistant coach for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

It’s noteworthy that Helmot was associated with SRH from IPL 2012 to 2019. He was part of SRH’s coaching group. Moreover, the former Australian was also part of the BBL franchise Melbourne Renegades.

Besides this, Simon Helmot experienced a successful stint as the coach when he guided his CPL franchise Trinbago Knight Riders to the title win back in 2015.

Helmot will be looking forward to work in tandem with former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody, who is also the head coach of SRH.

Lately, SRH has been in news for all the infamous reasons. During the IPL 2021, SRH left David Warner out of the team’s playing11 after deciding to sack him from the captaincy. Warner, who took SRH to its maiden IPL title in 2016, was removed from the leadership without any proper reason.
