The Delhi Capitals were one of the few sides who were highly expected to qualify for the playoffs by most of the experts and fans. The level of performance that the side has displayed in the past few seasons made it impossible for anybody to write them off the tournament this season.
However, the team’s performance and the results were totally opposite to what was expected from them, as the side failed to finish top 4 and thus found itself out of the playoffs for the first time in 3 seasons having last failed to reach the top 4 back in the 2018 IPL. The Rishabh Pant-led side failed to narrowly edge past the RCB who also were on par with them in terms of points achieved thill the last matchday of the group stages.
All Delhi needed was a win over Mumbai Indians in their last league match which would catapult them over to the 4th position, ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore considering the fact that they had a better run rate. However, the team failed to bring out its A game and lost the all-important game. Other several reasons including an inconsistent set of performances that the team displayed midway during the season thereby losing their way totally lead to their early exit from the tournament as well.

Despite several setbacks that the Delhi Capitals had to face this season, the team will definitely be looking to strike back at all its opponents with double the amount of vigour and efforts in the next season of the IPL. The motive certainly will be to find a solution to all the problems and compensate for the mistakes that they did in this season which lead to their miserable failure.
The highly rated players like Mitchel Marsh, David Warner, Rishabh Pant and others will have to live up to their worth to prove the critics wrong and turn the tables around to everyone’s surprise. The management also will have a lot of work to do in terms of instilling fresh vigour among its players and finding out the best possible combination to represent the team in the next season.
Delhi Capitals will be in search of a specialist fast bowler in the mini auction ahead of IPL 2023 who could choke the runs, unlike this season where the pace bowlers majorly let the opposition batters run away with the game. The side will definitely be able to make a mark in the upcoming season if all the above-mentioned aspects go in their favour now.
