The 2022 T20 World Cup is set to kick off in Australia and Pakistan are more than ready for the battle this year. The Babar Azam-led side is undoubtedly one of the favourites to lift the title this season and they are not to be taken lightly. They went very close last season in T20 World Cup 2021 but were unfortunately knocked out by Australia in the semi-finals.
Pakistan have been one of the best-performing sides in almost all the tournaments that took place in the last few years. Besides reaching the semifinals of the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan were also the finalists of the recently concluded Asia Cup, which they lost to Sri Lanka. If luck goes in their favour this time and they are able to play a little more clinically, Pakistan might as well win the 2022 T20 World Cup.
In this article, we shall take a look at everything that you need to know about the Pakistan team ahead of the T20 World Cup.

T20 World Cup 2022: Pakistan’s Players to Watch out for
- Shaheen Afridi – Shaheen Afridi missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to an ACL injury as he did not want to risk his chances in the World Cup. He will now return to the pitch right before the T20 World Cup in Australia in a matter of days. While it is true that he will take some time to return to his original form after coming back from injury, once he does, he will be Pakistan’s biggest asset. Shaheen Afridi is undoubtedly one of the most deadliest pacers in the world right now and we must definitely keep an eye on him.
- Babar Azam – Babar Azam might be out of form currently but as we all know that ‘form is temporary but class is permanent’, is will be foolish to write him off. The Pakistani skipper player brilliantly in the 2021 T20 World Cup and is he gets his form back, he might also rock the upcoming edition of the tournament.
- Mohammad Rizwan – Mohammad Rizwan has been Pakistan’s most consistent performer in the last few years hands down. He is a man who shines under pressure and in big tournaments. He played brilliantly both in T20 World Cup 2021 and in Asia Cup 2022. He is expected to continue playing in the same manner in the 2022 T20 World Cup as well.
T20 World Cup 2022: Pakistan Winning Prediction
Pakistan might not have the strongest squad on paper but they surely have one of the most in-form players of them all. The Paks have qualified to the most number of International knockout stages in the last few years among all the International teams and the chemistry between all the players makes this team a well oiled machine.
If Babar Azam gets his form back and Shaheen Afridi is able to continue bowling in his well known manner even after returning from injury, Pakistan have a great chance of winning the T20 World Cup this year (considering the fact that their other teammates perform their tasks with an equal determination).
