Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 – Reports

Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 – Reports: Team India is likely to face another huge blow in its T20 World Cup 2022 campaign as premier paceman Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming ICC event in Australia. As per a few reports, Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the 1st T20I against South Africa in Thiruvananthpuram, has suffered a stress fracture.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) minutes ahead of the India vs South Africa 1st T20I rolled out a press release in which it notified of Jasprit Bumrah’s complaint of back pain. Owing to the niggle, he was rested for the opening T20I, however, he may miss the remainder of the South Africa T20I series along with the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

“Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain in during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first T20I,” BCCI had tweeted minutes ahead of the toss of India vs South Africa 1st T20I.

It was learnt that Jasprit Bumrah headed to Bengaluru for a thorough scan on Wednesday, the results of which are awaited. The medical team of the BCCI is also monitoring the situation. The decision on Bumrah’s availability for the T20 World Cup 2022 will be taken in the next few days.

Notably, India’s pace spearhead missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury. He worked his way back to the Indian team after undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore. In fact, Bumrah was rested in the 1st T20I against Australia in wake of his injury and managing his workload.

A senior BCCI official reckons that Bumrah’s chances of making it to the T20 World Cup 2022 is very less. “Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It’s a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months,” he said.

Mohammad Shami, who is recently reported to have recovered from covid19, could very well be drafted into the Indian side to cover the ruled-out pacer. Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar, who has impressed everyone with his sharp skills, is also in the mix of getting a nod from the BCCI. Both the aforementioned pacers are named in bowling reserves for the T20 World Cup 2022.

It’s important to note that India’s persistent issue of death bowling hasn’t been yet solved. The bowlers have been taken for runs by the opposition very easily. Even Harshal Patel, who is known as a death bowling specialist, hasn’t been able to constraint the batters. Moreover, senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also faced heat from the fans for his poor death bowling abilities.
