Jasprit Bumrah is yet not ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022: BCCI President

Jasprit Bumrah is yet not ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022: BCCI President: The BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly is not willing to give up on hopes to see Jasprit Bumrah playing in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 as he asserts that the strike Indian pacer is not yet ruled out of the showpiece ICC event.

Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the 1st T20I against South Africa in Thiruvananthpuram, was rushed to Bangaluru for scans on his back on Wednesday. The reports of the scans are awaited to be accessed.

“Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet,” Ganguly told the Xtra Time digital channel in Kolkata on Friday. He further mentioned that the final decision on Bumrah’s availability will be taken in the “next two-three days” while he kept his fingers crossed.

The statement came after the BCCI media team, ahead of the India vs South Africa 1st T20I, released a statement informing of Bumrah’s back injury. The pundits and fans have once again scrutinised the BCCI for mishandling players’ injuries and rushing Bumrah into action without him attaining full fitness.

It has been learnt that the BCCI has hired independent medical consultants to study Bumrah’s scans and further coordinate with the board’s medical team to take the next courses of action.

As per a few senior BCCI officials, Jasprit Bumrah is racing against time to get fit by the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. With no more than 15 days remaining for the tournament, he is very unlikely to be available, said the experts in the know of the development.

Meanwhile, some experts have accessed that stress fractures generally take six months time to heal and completely recover. If this happens, not only Bumrah will miss the T20 World Cup 2022, but he will also be out of India’s home test series against Australia next year.

A few reports earlier claimed that Jasprit Bumrah will travel with the Indian contingent to Australia to see if he can at some point provide his services to the Indian team.

“Bumrah needs rest as that is the best medicine for back injury. For now, he will be in touch with the NCA medical staff. Nitin is directly overseeing his recovery. We are not ruling him out of World Cup completely. He will travel with the team to Australia and continue his recovery there. We have time till October 15 to make changes,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.
