Zimbabwe’s players didn’t even play 20 overs. Zimbabwe scored 122/10 in 18.2 overs, resulting in West Indies winning by 31 runs.

Player of the Match: Alzarri Joseph (4over-16runs-4wickets).

Alzarri Joseph(After Match)- “Although it is quite encouraging, the work is not finished. To advance to the main event, we have another game that we must win. Pulling it back for the team means attempting to take an early wicket and, if unsuccessful, keeping it tight. Although the yorker required a lot of work, it all depends on the batter and how they move in the crease. For me, keeping the ball close to the hitter is key. Although the conditions were favorable with the new ball, the wicket was still suitable for cricket. Overall pleased with the results, and the team worked very hard today.”

Regis Chakabva | Zimbabwe captain:When it came to trying to hit our regions, bowlers stayed to their game plan. They did a good job of bringing it back. We were pleased to limit them to 150. We entered with the certainty that we would succeed. In the first 10 overs, probably one too many wickets were lost. WI and Joseph deserve praise for opening the gates. Pitch performed admirably throughout. will attempt to recover on Friday.

Nicholas Pooran | West Indies captain: “What to say to this (laughs). We discussed this yesterday and agreed that as a batting unit, we must take responsibility. We made an effort to play it safe in the middle there, but in tournaments like this, things can sometimes go wrong; starting with the first game and continuing today, we had a few soft dismissals.”

Also, he added: “You make your own luck; it was crucial for Akeal and Rovman to form that alliance at the very end. After those first two overs, the ball had more energy, but we unquestionably made and produced our own luck. Since Mayers is the only one of our pacers who can swing the ball, we decided to bowl him in the first over after discussing the procedure.”
