The Super 12s for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 have begun. Before the Super 12, the final qualification group stage round took place. This round was played in the form of 2 groups of 8 teams, with each group consisting of 4 teams. The group stage saw one of the most shocking results. The two-time T20 champions, the West Indies, were knocked out in this phase of the tournament. But there were many fresher faces that shone brightly. Who are they? Here is a look:
Sikandar Raza played for Zimbabwe at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:
Sikandar Raza carried his great international form into the ICC T20 World Cup. He played a very crucial knock for the men in red against Ireland. He scored a splendid 82 off 48 balls. While bowling, he also grabbed a wicket. Sikandar has been showing signs of great touch for a very long time. In the series against Bangladesh at home and also in the series against India, Raza proved what he had in store. If he keeps batting this way and plays in a few T20 freelance leagues across the globe, Raza may even bag an IPL contract.
Bas De Leede played for the Netherlands at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:
De Leede was the “player of the match” for the first two games of the Dutch. He plays exceptionally well with the ball in hand and also with the bat. He is a multi-dimensional player. He was mighty impressive in the first two games. The much-needed balance for the team is provided by De Leede. Bas ended with figures of 3/19 and 2/18 in the first two games of his T20 World Cup campaign. In the final group stage game against Sri Lanka, Bas managed to take 2 wickets too. He is currently the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
Curtis Campher:
Curtis Campher, the player who took a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup last year and even went on to take 4 wickets in 4 balls. But only a few people know that Campher is an all-rounder. His role in the Irish team is that of a pinch hitter and a part-time bowler. He showed his pinch-hitting abilities when he scored 72 runs from 32 balls in the game against Scotland. With that batting skillset and those bowling abilities, Curtis becomes a complete T20 package.
