IPL 2023 Auction all team target players:
Chennai Super Kings (CSK): CSK will run after an experienced all-rounder, especially after releasing Dwayne Bravo from the squad. They also released Chris Jordan, who is also an all-rounder, ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.
English all-rounder Sam Curran would be their primary target for the auction. The fast-bowling all-rounder recently won the Player of the Tournament award in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): RCB have only a handful of player slots that are required to be filled in the auction. Considering their scanty purse value, they are expected to shy away from the big-gun players, who are predicted to fetch handsome money.
The franchise needs a good overseas pacer and they are likely to target either Reece Topley, Kyle Jamieson, or Joshua Little.
Delhi Capitals (DC): Ricky Ponting coached Delhi Capitals (DC) will go bonkers to get the services of all-rounder Cameron Green in the auction. Ponting earlier had expressed his interest in Green and sees him as a great asset.
Besides, Cameron Green, Delhi may also like to have a backup Indian batter in the ranks. Someone like Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey or Priyam Garg will be their targets.
Gujarat Titans (GT): Although Gujarat Titans (GT) have done well to keep its all bases covered, but they will be looking for an overseas pacer during the auction. GT traded Lokie Ferguson to KKR, ahead of the auction, and they now will be keen to fill that vacant slot.
The franchise may run after Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Reece Topley or Joshua Little during the upcoming auction.
Rajasthan Royals (RR): Rajasthan’s primary goal would be to bid for all-rounder Ben Stokes in the 2023 auction. Stokes was a part of RR family in the earlier seasons, but he had to pull out of the tournament owing to injuries.
Having released Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, and Rassie Van Der Dussen from the squad, RR needs a genuine middle-order batter. The franchise will also be keen on the services of Jason Holder and Shakib al Hasan.
Mumbai Indians (MI): The five-time IPL champions need a hitting all-rounder in the ranks, but don’t have a hefty purse value to run after the likes of Sam Curran, Ben Stokes or Cameron Green. Also, their spin bowling department needs a leader and the franchise may target some overseas spinners to bolster the squad. The likes of Adil Rashid and Adam Zampa would be their key targets in the auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): KKR have a lot of shopping to do in the coming auction, but their budget seems to go haywire. With a mere INR 7.05 Cr of purse value, KKR will have to fill 11 leftover slots in the squad.
The franchise will be in the search of a quality spinner and an all-rounder. For the spinning role, they might target Adil Rashid while in the all-rounders’ department, they might have to settle with a domestic player owing to the purse constraints.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG): The Lucknow-based IPL franchise has a decent purse value to compete during the auction process. With the release of all-rounder Jason Holder, they created room for another high-quality foreign all-rounder cricket. Australian young Cameron Green would be their probable target for the auction.
Besides the all-rounder, LSG might also want to add pacers and spinners for a backup role in the squad.
Punjab Kings (PBKS): PBKS once again has done quite a bit of shuffling to their squad. They released their skipper Mayank Agarwal and also freed up much-talked all-rounder Odean Smith ahead of the auction.
They will be in search of a valiant replacement for Mayank Agarwal. Moreover, they can also try and have a go at the top all-rounders present in the auction, considering they have a huge purse value.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): SRH is on a verge of getting a complete makeover this time. They have INR 42.25 Cr of purse value, the most amongst the IPL teams in the 2023 auction, and have to fill 13 slots in the event.
The franchise will be looking for a captaincy face, which will prompt them to bid for Joe Root, Mayank Agarwal or Ajinkya Rahane. Moreover, their purse value will also allow them to have an upper hand on any player at the auction ring.
