IND vs AUS: Josh Hazelwood returns to the Australian Playing XI ahead of the Third Test at Gabba
IND vs AUS: The Australian side that played the Perth test has been revived by the nation, as their most successful bowler in 2024, Josh Hazelwood, who missed the pink-ball test at Adelaide, is back in the side.
The Aussies are often known for their dynamic approach to Test cricket; however, one of the core reasons for their widespread success in the format has always been their bowlers.
After India won the first test of the Border-Gavaskar series in a commanding fashion at Perth, all credit to the Indian bowlers. However, the Aussies, after the huge defeat, came back strongly, with Starc and Cummins leading the wickets tally.
Though super sub-Scott Boland played a stunning hand towards Australia’s success in the second test match, despite the success, he has been dropped in the third test, and Hazelwood has been brought back into the side.
Australia has retained their remaining squad, with openers Usman Khawaja and the young and dynamic Nathan McSweeney at the top of the Australian batting order. Khawaja is known to be one of the best record holders at The Gabba.
While Marnus Labuschagne, who returned to form in the pink-ball test at Adelaide, will be seen alongside Steven Smith and Travis Head in the middle order. While Mitchell Marsh remains to be the all-rounder, there is no Beau Webster despite his inclusion in the side.
While Alex Carey remains to be the gloveman, the pace trio is back for the Aussies with Mitchell Starc, skipper Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazelwood. Nathan Lyon remains the only recognized spinner in the 11.
