The IPL 2025 mega-auction marked every franchise bringing in some new players in their squads, while many teams are also in the hunt for a new player in the role of a skipper. 
 
Though every team has included the likes of several players in their squad, they are yet to announce who would be seen in a captain’s role. Likes of great <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Dhoni">MS Dhoni</a> and Rohit Sharma, the most successful among IPL skippers, have now decided to end their role as they continue to feature for their sides as players. 
 
With five of the franchises being certain over their captains, only the likes of the remaining sides are looking for a new captain, while some teams’ like the Punjab Kings went all loose to acquire the likes of last season's title-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer.

CSK have been the most legendary side in the history of the IPL under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, and now the captaincy has passed onto the next generation of players in Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad will continue in the role of captain. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Mumbai Indians</h3>
 
The veteran all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, who replaced Rohit Sharma as the MI skipper, would once again be resuming duties in the IPL as the skipper, having the national skippers, SKY and Rohit Sharma, play under him. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Gujarat Titans</h3>
 
The Gujarat Titans have included several new players in the role, while Shubman Gill, the rising Indian sensation, remains to be the captain of the side, as per speculations made. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Sunrisers Hyderabad</h3>
 
The SRH side was led by World Cup-winning skipper Pat Cummins last season, as he led them to another final against the KKR, which they eventually lost. The skipper was retained with a whopping INR 18 crore and will resume his duties. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Rajasthan Royals</h3>
 
Sanju Samson, the skipper of the Royals side, seems fixed from the last few years, and he will continue to do so while also being their prime gloveman and opening batter. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Lucknow Super Giants</h3>
 
The LSG side looked very interested in Rishabh Pant, as they spent almost 1/3rd of their remaining purse, as Pant was included for a whopping INR 27 crore. However, if reports were to be considered and Pant unwilling to continue as skipper, then he might be seen playing under Nicholas Pooran; otherwise, Pant would take up captaincy for LSG from IPL 2025. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Delhi Capitals</h3>
 
The Capitals have made choices that seem to be significant for their future, as KL Rahul, who was swapped in from LSG to the Capitals squad, might be considered their ideal option for the role of the Capitals skipper. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Royal Challengers Bangalore</h3>
 
RCB are in the biggest dilemma over their choice of skipper, having not retained Faf. Earlier speculations suggested that Virat Kohli might be resuming his role as the skipper; however, no confirmed reports have been made from either end of the player or the management. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Punjab Kings</h3>
 
The Punjab Kings have not included Shreyas Iyer just for fun, as Iyer, the captain with the defending title, was bought in for a whopping INR 26.75 crore to be termed the captain of the side under Ponting. 
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Kolkata Knight Riders</h3>
 
The defending champions have let go of their skipper and are not looking to bring any such player who can be decisive as a captain, Sunil Narine who captains their other sides, Andre Russell, while also their heavily invested Venkatesh Iyer, all would stand a chance to be seen in the role of a skipper.

To be true, there were a couple of loopholes in the team combination of the first test. Virat and Pant were the only two reliable players in the middle order where Pant always backs his way of playing against Australia. Rohit Sharma featured in the Prime Minister's XI vs India, a 2-day Warm-up Match with the pink ball. He looked a bit out of nick but he is all set to play the second Test. Although he batted at number 5 in the PM's XI vs India, allowing KL Rahul to open with Jaiswal, he is now a top-order player and can contribute best at the top. No reason for Rohit to play in the middle order.
Jaiswal has been a find for India in the past year. He has scored runs everywhere he landed and this is Australia-tour time. He got a big hundred in the second innings of 1st test and now, his confidence would be high for the second test.
Shubman Gill will replace Devdutt Padikkal at no.3. Padikkal had an opportunity at number three but he let it slip by. Gill looked fit and fully recovered in the PM's XI and he should be batting at 3.
MIDDLE ORDER- Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant

Virat Kohli got his 30th test century at Perth in the 1st test and his getting some runs in the first match of the series is a good sign for the Indian contingent. His presence with form in the middle-order is enough to fearmonger for the match. 
KL Rahul did an excellent job at the top in the first test and runs from his bat would give some relief to the team. It is a bit injustice for him to move down the order after those innings in the first test, but these are forced changes. 
Rishabh Pant is a killer against Australia and he proved the fact in the first innings of the Perth test where almost all batters faced difficulties to be at the crease. 
All-ROUNDERS- Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sunder
Nitish Kumar Reddy has caught everyone's attention on the international stage with his bowling and batting performances in the first test at<a href="https://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-series/7745/india-tour-of-australia-2024-25/venues/512/perth-stadium"> Perth</a>. No reason to move him from the 7th number. Washington Sunder didn't contribute much but his quality and controlled bowling helped maintain the pressure against the home team. He might get replaced by Ravi Ashwin as both bring the same skillset to the table.

The 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy is not far away and all the teams are busy preparing for the mega event of next year. Ahead of this competition, the Indian Cricket Team have unveiled their brand new One-Day International jersey. 

The color of the jersey will remain the same as the previous one but look wise it has definitely changed. Indian Cricket's Governing Body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has launched the new-jersey of the Men in Blue on Friday, 29th of September. 

Jay Shah, the President of the ICC and the secretary of the Indian Board unveiled the brand-new jersey at the headquarters of the BCCI in Mumbai. Harmanpreet Kaur, the leader and the skipper of the Women in Blue was also present at the unveiling-event. This new Jersey has been made by Adidas, the Jersey Sponsor of the Indian Cricket Team.

What's the special thing about this brand new Jersey? 

India's previous jersey was completely blue and it had the iconic three stripes of Adidas on the shoulder area. During the 2023 ODI World Cup, those three stripes were painted in the colours of India's National flag. 

This time around, the iconic Adidas stripes are present on the shoulder area too which are white in color, but the shoulder portion has been given the tricolor shade, on which these three stripes are applied. The blue colour of the jersey is slightly lighter than the previous one, but it has been given a darker shade of blue on the sides.

When and where will this new Jersey of the Indian Cricket Team make it's debut?

This brand new-jersey of the Indian Cricket Team will make it's debut in Australia in the month of December. The Women's team under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur will be going on a white-ball tour of Australia where they will be participating in a One-Day International and a T20 International series. 

The Indian Team will be seen wearing this new Jersey for the 1st time during the One-Day International series. This Jersey is not just for the Women's team and the Rohit Sharma-led team will also be witnessed wearing it in One-Day International matches. 

The Men in Blue will be witnessed wearing this new jersey versus England in January of 2025. Then a three-match Twenty Twenty series will be played between the Indians and the Englishman.
Post the conclusion of that series, Rohit Sharma and CO will wear this jersey in the 2025 Champions Trophy which will take place in the months of February and March. The Women in Blue are also likely to be seen wearing this jersey in the 2025 Women's One Day International World Cup which will be held in India.

The Australian Cricket Team have announced their squad for the second Test-Match of the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy versus India and fast-bowling all-rounder Beau Webster has been included in the roster for the upcoming contest. The 2nd Test will be played in Adelaide from the 6th of December onwards.
30-year-old Webster has been included in the squad as a backup for the injured Fast Bowling all-rounder Mitch Marsh. The 33-year-old suffered a muscle-strain during the opening test in Perth, which the Men in Blue won by a big margin go 295 runs. The Kangaroos are trailing the Rohit Sharma-led team by a margin of 0-1 in the five-match Test-series.
“I felt really good after scoring handy runs and picking up good amount of wickets representing Australia-A versus India-A. Whenever you get the chance to represent the ‘A’ team, it’s just a single level below Test Cricket, so it motivates you to perform well and get selected in the longest format of the game. It was a really happy and a proud moment for me to receive a phone call directly from George Bailey, the chairman of selectors of the Men’s Cricket Team of Australia following the conclusion of the contest  versus New South Wales. I cannot wait to join the Test Team,” Webster said.
Webster eager to make his Test-Cricket debut
Fast Bowling All-Rounder Beau Webster has not made his International debut for the Aussies yet. But, he has performed exceptionally well in the Domestic First-Class tournament of Australia, the Sheffield Shield. The 30-year-old has amassed 1,788 runs with the help of nine fifties and five magnificent hundreds. 
The all-rounder was also impressive in Tasmania’s contest versus the New South Wales of the Sheffield Shield where he managed to play good innings of 61 &amp; 49 runs respectively and he also managed to dismiss the opposition batters five times
Webster has the ability to use the seam of the ball at it’s best in seam bowling along with aggressive-batting nature. In the previous edition of the Sheffield Shield, Webster was also given the Player-of-the-year award . Additionally, the all-rounder has found success in maintaining his good rhythm and form in the current edition of the competition as well.

‘No changes will be made in the Starting XI for the Day-Night Test-Match in Adelaide’
Despite suffering a humiliating defeat in the opening fixture of the 2024 Border Gavaskar Trophy series, the Mighty Australians will not be making any changes to their Starting XI for the Adelaide pink-ball Test-Match, Andrew McDonald-the coach of Australia confirmed. The Adelaide test-match will be kicking off from the 6th of December onwards. Indian Cricket Team won the first match of the five-match Test series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 by a comprehensive margin of 295 runs. At the start of the series, everyone was downplaying India and terming the Aussies as favourites given that India was coming on the back of a 3-0 whitewash suffered at home against New Zealand. However, India came back strongly after being dismissed for 150 runs batting first in the first innings.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar remarked that there was considerable discussion in the Australian media regarding the legality of the catch by Suryakumar Yadav during the T20 World Cup final. He questioned the basis on which Australians, from their own country, could doubt whether Suryakumar’s feet had touched the ground. Gavaskar in a rare feat self-praised himself to be the root cause of the motivation Team India received due to his criticisms which led them to a famous BGT comeback after a home series sweep. 
“Now remember that Suryakumar Yadav catch in the T20 World Cup final. There were so many things being written in the media in Australia that questioned the legality of that catch. How can you, sitting right here in Australia, question if Suryakumar’s feet touched the ground? That is why our team showed that we are a side [that] will thrash you in this series,” stated Gavaskar, as quoted by India Today.
<h2 dir="ltr">Sunil Gavaskar feels that India always comes up hard in the Perth Test</h2>
<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunil_Gavaskar">Sunil Gavaskar</a> after the Perth win for India, claimed that often such wins are followed by immense criticism on Australian media. He recalled the 2008 Perth win under Anil Kumble, where the clash between Andrew Symonds and Harbhajan Singh led to an immense media scare, followed by India’s win. 
He draws a parallel to the current series, suggesting that once again, after facing criticism from the Australian media, India has emerged victorious in Perth.
“I remember India’s win at Perth in the 2007–08 series came right after that controversy between Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds, which was followed by criticism from the Australian media. So that win in Perth, and the win this time (also in Perth), it shows that each time it’s the Australian media that goes against India,” he added.
India will now face Australia in the second Test match at the Adelaide Oval, which will be a Day/Night Test match with the Pink Ball. The last time around in the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide in BGT 2020-21, India was dismissed for 36 runs and registered their lowest total in a Test innings. The team needs to win four Test matches to have a chance of qualifying for the WTC final without depending on others.

Sunil Gavaskar credits his criticism as one of the biggest motivations received by the Indian team, which helped them secure a splendid victory at Perth after their dismayed performance in the home series against the Blackcaps.

BGT: The Indian Cricket Team, under the leadership of stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah kicked off the 2024 Border Gavaskar Trophy on the best possible note as they went on to secure a comfortable victory versus the Australians in the opening fixture of the series.



After being bundled out for a mere score of 150 runs in the 1st inning on the first day of the Perth Test-Match, the Men in Blue brought their A game forward and turned things around as they initiated an all-out on the Aussies for 104 runs and managed to take a decent first-inning lead of 46 runs.



Captain Jasprit Bumrah wrecked havoc with the ball registering yet another five-wicket-haul and ended the first inning with figures of 5-30 next to his name. He received a tremendous amount of support from the duo of debutant Harshit Rana (3-48) and Mohammed Siraj (2-20) as the home side didn't have any answer versus the excellent bowling performance of the Indians.



In the 2nd inning of the Perth Test-Match, the Jasprit Bumrah-led team put up a masterclass with the bat, with the opening duo of KL Rahul (77 runs in 176 deliveries) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (161 runs in 297 balls) stitching a mammoth partnership of 201 runs for the opening wicket, the highest ever opening wicket stand by an Indian batting pair in the history of the Border-Gavaskar-Trophy in Australia.



22-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal's 161 run knock helped him the become just the second batter ever in the history of the sport to convert his first 4 Test Cricket tons into 150s. This knock of the Southpaw played a crucial role in helping his side win the Perth Test-Match



Legendary batsman Virat Kohli also managed to bring up his highly-awaited 30th century in the longest format of the game, going past the tally of Legendary Australian batsman Don Bradman. In order to score some quick runs, Kohli got involved in a really good partnership of 77 runs in just 52 deliveries with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy (38" Runs) before the Men in Blue declared their second inning for a mammoth score of 487-6. The Indians set a huge target of 534 runs for the Aussies, their highest ever in the history of the longest format of the game versus their fierce-rivals.



A defeat for the Kangaroos was guaranteed as their batters didn't look comfortable at all out their in the middle versus the Indian bowling unit and eventually they got all-out for a score of 238 runs, suffering a defeat by a margin of 295 runs.

Indian Cricket Team's young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has scripted history in Test Cricket. By hitting two huge sixes in the second inning of the ongoing Perth Test-Match versus Australia, the youngster broke the record of hitting the highest number of sixes in Test Cricket's calendar-year.



Earlier, this record was help by former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum but now Jaiswal has overtaken him. By the end of the 2nd day's play, the 22-year-old was unbeaten in the middle with a score of 90* runs in 193 deliveries and was standing firm at the crease alongside fellow opener KL Rahul (62 runs in 153 deliveries).

Jaiswal has hit a total of 34 huge sixes in the 2024 Calendar year of Test Cricket till now, while Brendon McCullum on the other hand had hit 33 maximums in the calendar-year of the longest format of the game in 2014.



The likes of Ben Stokes (26 sixes in 2022) and Adam Gilchrist (22 sixes in 2006) are also a part of this list at the third and fourth positions respectively. India's legendary batter Virender Sehwag (22 sixes in 2008) is also a part of the top five and he holds the joint fourth position with Gilchrist.

The batsmen who held the record of getting involved in the biggest opening-partnership for Team India in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy were Akash Chopra and Virender Sehwag who stitched a big partnership of 141 runs in 2003, but now the duo of Jaiswal and Rahul have overtaken both of them. At the time of writing this article, the two have shared a 171 runs partnership with each other and they have become the only Indian batting pair to get involved in the biggest opening-wicket partnership in the history of the BGT.

Indian Cricket Team's young sensation Tilak Varma has scripted history in the shortest format of the game. He has become the first and the only batter in the world to slam three successive hundreds in the history of T20 Cricket.



The 22-year-old brought up his third T20 ton versus Meghalaya in the opening fixture of the ongoing 2024-2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This century wasn't a normal one, it was a record-breaking daddy hundred.The Mumbai Indians star and Hyderabad batter played a magnificent knock of 151 runs in just 66 deliveries, with the help of 10 big maximums and 14 good looking fours.



He reached the milestone in 51 deliveries and his ton meant that Hyderabad posted a massive score of 258 runs on the board, the highest score ever scored by a team in the history of the competition.

Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024: Fierce rivals India and Australia are set to square off against each other in the highly anticipated and nail biting Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024, set to kick off on Friday, 22nd of November onwards. Over the years, this bilateral Test-Series has gone on to become one of the most thrilling and fascinating rivalries in the world of Cricket, especially after the Men in Blue managed to defeat the Mighty Australians in their own backyard on two-successive occasions.



But, this time around the stakes are going to be even more higher as the tourists have to mandatorily secure wins in four fixtures out of five to guarantee their spot in the World Test Championship 2023-2025 final, which adds an extra-layer of excitement and intensity to this already scorching series.

The duo of Josh Inglis and Nathan McSweeney earned their maiden Test Cricket call-ups for the opening contest. 25-year-old McSweeney is anticipated to open the inning for Australia alongside veteran batter Usman Khawaja.&nbsp;

Clarke is aware about the threat which Kohli poses and he knows that he's hungry to score runs and if he gets sledged then he can use that to bring back his lost confidence and enthusiasm. The 36-year-old has a habit of fighting back in a strong manner whenever he gets sledged by his opponents.

According to a recent news-report of ESPNcricinfo, the veteran batter had already informed the BCCI about his travel plans to Australia and had said that he will be available to take part in the two-day practice match with the Pink Ball versus the Prime Minister?s XI of Australia, which kicks off from the 30th of November. That practice game will take place before the day and night Test-Match between India and Australia in Adelaide.



Since Sharma will not be available for the opening contest, the Indian team-management will be looking for a dependable batter to replace the Indian captain as the opener. Earlier, there were reports which suggested that Prince of Indian Cricket Shubman Gill was being considered as the best option because he kicked off his Test Career in Australia in the 2021-22 Border Gavaskar Trophy and he has the experience of playing as an opening batsman.



However, much to the dismay of the Indian fans, the youngster fractured his thumb in the recently concluded intra-squad match-simulation contest and he will not be taking part in the 1st Test-Match.



In such a scenario, the Men in Blue have two options in the form of Abhimanyu Easwaran and KL Rahul. It?s possible that both these players will be seen playing in the Perth Test-Match because along with the opening position, the number three spot is also up for grabs. At the same time, the Indian Cricket Team management have also decided to retain the services of promising batsman Devdutt Padikkal from the India-A squad and he too is a great option to bat at number three.
