Vivo IPL 2021: A big update on Mohammad Shami’s injury given by Anil Kumble.

Vivo IPL 2021: Punjab Kings head coach Anil Kumble gave a big update on pacer Mohammad Shami’s injury. He said the pacer is on his way back to action and will play for the team in the elite competition which begins on 09th April.

The Indian senior pacer is out of the game since the last December. Shami took a major blow on his right forearm during the play on the third day of the first test in Adelaide. A well-directed bouncer from Pat Cummins hit Shami’s forearm and the further scans ruled out the cricketer from the entire tour.

The pacer was expected to return to the field on the India-England series however he was not considered match-fit for the tedious series and hence kept out of the squad.

According to the reports, Shami has been working on his fitness and has started bowling in the nets at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore. The cricketer will have to undergo a mandatory seven days quarantine before heading to the bio-bubble of Punjab Kings.

“He is fine as far as I know. He is coming to the bio-bubble for the quarantine and he will be out in a few days. I know he hasn’t played any matches since his injury but he is good to go. We are really looking forward to him playing a few practice games and then getting ready for the first game,” Kumble told Sportstar.

This time the rebranded Punjab Kings looks to have a formidable pace attack. They have roped in Jhye Richardson, Moises Henriques and Riley Meredith for INR 14 Crores, INR 4.2 Crores and INR 8 Crores respectively. Both the Australians had an outstanding Big Bash League season 10. PBKS also have some of the retained pacers in the squad with the likes of Chris Jordan, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Porel, and Darshan Nalkande.
