AB de Villiers to return for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2023: Legendary South African cricketer AB de Villiers has confirmed his presence in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) season sixteen for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). De Villiers drew curtains to his magical cricketing career on 19th November 2021 and didn’t participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
To sideline the rumours of him making a comeback for RCB in the next IPL season, De Villiers himself revealed that he will be present in the IPL 2023 for RCB, however, his role in the team isn’t yet decided.
Notably, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) recently presented AB de Villiers with a special status in the franchise by inducting him to the Hall of Fame along with the Caribbean cricketer Chris Gayle. Both those mentioned above have been phenomenal for the franchise in red and black over the years.
“I am glad to hear Virat confirmed it. To be honest, we haven’t decided on anything yet. I will definitely be around IPL next year. I am not sure in what capacity but I am missing getting back there,” De Villiers told VUSport.

The Protea cricketer further said that he would love to go to RCB’s home ground, M Chinnaswamy, and see a full capacity crowd.
“I have heard a little bird tweeting, saying that there might be some games in Bangalore. So I would love to return to my second hometown (Bangalore) and watch the full capacity stadium there at the Chinnaswamy again. I would love to return, I am looking forward to it,” he added.
De Villiers’ contribution to RCB is immeasurable. From saving the team from several collapses to taking his side to a high scoring total, AB de Villiers has been unmatchable.
Since 2011, de Villiers had amassed 4491 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at an impressive average of 41.2.
