AFG vs PAK, 1st ODI: All the teams are busy preparing for Asia Cup 2023 and ICC World Cup 2023 starting in November. Before both the important tournaments, the first match of the three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Pakistan was played today at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Sri Lanka. In this match, the men in green bowled out Afghanistan for just 59 runs to win the first match of the series by 142 runs. Obviously, with this performance of Pakistan’s bowlers, they have surprised all the participating teams.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Babar Azam and company were bowled out for 201 runs in 47.1 overs. Fazalhaq Farooqui’s catch of Fakhar Zaman by Mohammad Nabi on the fourth ball of the first over dealt Pakistan its first blow. In four balls, Fakhar could score two runs. After this, in the second over, Mujeeb ur Rahman got out LBW to captain Babar Azam on duck.

Imam-ul-Haq scored a half-century. He got out after scoring 61 runs in 94 balls with the help of two fours. Other scorers included Iftikhar Ahmed (30 runs), Shadab Khan (39 runs), Usama Mir (2 runs), Shaheen Afridi (2 runs), and Haris Rauf (1 run). Naseem Shah scored 18 runs and remained unbeaten. The maximum three wickets from Afghanistan were taken by Mujeeb ur Rehman. Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi each took two wickets at the same time. Rahmat and Fazalhaq Farooqui each secured one wicket.

Afghanistan’s team was down to 59 runs while chasing 201 runs. Five batsmen were unable to even open account. Scoring zero, Rashid Khan, Rahtam Shah, Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, and Ibrahim Zadran went back to the pavilion. Rehmanullah Gurbaz’s scored highest 18 runs from his side whisle Ikram Alikhil scored four, Mohammad Nabi scored seven, Azmatullah Omarzai’s 16, Abdul Rehman’s 2, and Mujeeb ur Rahman scored four runs.

Haris Rauf, a fast bowler, claimed a maximum of five wickets for Pakistan. Shaheen Afridi took two wickets simultaneously. Both Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan claimed a wicket.
