After Red Ball dominance Brendon McCullum now also appointed as England’s white-ball coach

Brendon McCullum, the former New Zealand maestro, has extended his contact with the English Cricket Board until the end of 2027, and alongside the red-ball, he has now been appointed as the white-ball coach as well.

England has undergone a major strategic change in the longer format of the game, as he has evolved a new playing format, as the English have batted at a ferocious strike rate, as they evolved the Bazball technique.

The signing of the contract until 2027, means McCullum will be in the role of England’s coach until the Cricket World Cup 2027 which will be held in South Africa. England has many crucial series like two T20 World Cups in 2025 and 2027 and also the World Cup in which Brendon will lead him.

However, for England’s series against the Aussies at home this summer and then later their Caribbean tour, Marcus Trescothick, the team’s interim head coach, following his duties as the former New Zealand great will begin his twin tenure from the beginning of 2025.

India will hold a white-ball series in their nation as the hosts before the ICC Champions Trophy which will be held in Pakistan at the end of February. The English red-ball coach has had considerable success with the red-ball team, as he has guided the English test revival and changed the format for the country.

Next in the WTC, England is expecting considerable success to turn the tables, as, despite their long seasons and the large number of matches they play, the team has failed to make it to the finals for both the previous occasions and is expecting better seasons ahead.

Brendon McCullum will probably be leaving England immediately after the end of the Sri Lanka series this week, and he will return to New Zealand for a brief holiday before he rejoins the test squad who will be touring Pakistan from the 7th of next month for an away series.
