Ajinkya Rahane ruled out of the IPL 2025 with a finger injury? Reports drop the massive claim

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced a huge injury blow during the game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Tuesday (29th April). Skipper Ajinkya Rahane hurt himself on the finger while fielding and was taken off the field.

Ajinkya Rahane got injured in the 12th over when he was fielding at the covers. Faf du Plessis, who was batting, drilled the ball hard towards the covers, and the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, in an attempt to save the ball, ended up injuring his finger.

Ajinkya Rahane was seen bleeding and wasn't deemed fit to take part any further in the game. In his absence, Sunil Narine captained the team and did a great job as Kolkata Knight Riders went on to win the game by 14 runs.

With Ajinkya Rahane not coming on the field for the remainder of the match, it raised many speculations about his availability for the next game. However, the reports in ESPNCricinfo have suggested that the medical team of the franchise will asses the injury and take the call.

The source close to the development said that Ajinkya Rahane's injury was serious at first, but the management will be assessing him before taking any call. So far, there is no clarity, and it remains to be seen if the batter will be declared fit for the next game or not.

Not bad, I will be okay - Ajinkya Rahane

"On his injured hand) Not bad. I will be okay. I will be fine. (turning point of the game) After 13 overs, those two overs from Sunil. When he picked those wickets, that was the game for us. 204 on that wicket was good, but frankly, I felt we were 15 runs short.

"Russell one over in between and good support from Anukul and Varun. (on Anukul) History at this ground, left-arm spinners have always done well, he has been working hard, but one game at a time, we don't want to think too far ahead."
