All 45 Pakistan players go UNSOLD at The Hundred 2025 Draft; reason revealed
The Hundred 2025 Draft took place on Thursday (13th March) and a lot of big names were sold. But, the main talking point of the event was not even a single player from the Pakistan National Cricket Team was picked by any franchise.
A total of 45 players registered for the Draft of The Hundred 2025. The likes of Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and others were expected to play in the league. But in what was the biggest shock, not even a single player fetched any deal in the tournament.
Talks of ‘soft ban’ on Pakistani cricketers emerge after they went unsold at Hundred 2025 Draft
With Pakistan players going unsold in The Hundred 2025 Draft, a lot of questions were raised over the same. The talks of ‘soft ban’ on Pakistani cricketers became the talk of the town, especially after the IPL franchises acquired stakes in the Hundred franchises.
Pakistan players are not allowed in IPL due to the terror attack that took place back in 2008. Not only in the IPL but Pakistan players didn't even get picked in the SA20, where franchises are owned by the IPL owners. Now, with them having stakes in Hundred, too, it is speculated that they deliberately weren't picked.
Notably, Oval Invincibles (Mumbai Indians), Manchester Originals (Lucknow Super Giants), Northern Superchargers (SunRisers Hyderabad) and Southern Brave (Delhi Capitals) are partially or completely owned by IPL franchises.
However, as per the reports in Wisden, it is learned that Pakistan players weren't picked because of their International schedule. The Men in Green have a packed schedule, and the players' uncertain availability is the major reason why the Hundred teams didn't pick the players.
During The Hundred 2025, Pakistan is likely to play a white-ball series against Bangladesh. Recently ECB chair Richard Gould categorically mentioned that unlike SA20 and IPL, Pakistan players will be playing in the Hundred.
