All-rounder Dwayne Bravo to retire after the completion of T20 World Cup 2021.

T20 World Cup 2021: Celebrated Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has opted to draw curtains to his international career following the completion of West Indies’s campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.

The reigning champions of the T20 World Cup have been pushed out of the semi-final race after Sri Lanka defeated them by 20 runs, last night, in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. West Indies will now play against Australia, this weekend, to end their forgettable campaign in the World Cup.

Bravo, after the match against Sri Lanka, said that his 18-years long international career had several ups and downs, but he is grateful to represent the entire region.

“I think the time has come,” the 38-year-old Bravo told ICC’s post-match show on Facebook. “I’ve had a very good career . had some ups and downs, but as I look back at it, I’m very grateful to represent the region and the Caribbean people for so long.”

The champion all-rounder has mustard 1245 runs in the 90 T20Is he played for West Indies, since making his debut in 2006 against New Zealand. Moreover, he scalped 78 wickets and was quite effective with his death bowling variations.

“It wasn’t the World Cup we expected, it wasn’t the World Cup we wanted as players,” Bravo said. “We shouldn’t feel sorry for ourselves, it was a tough competition, we should keep our heads high.”

West Indies had a poor World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they only managed to beat Bangladesh and were hammered by Australia, England and Sri Lanka.

Dwayne Bravo, too, is having an underwhelming World Cup run. He has just scored 16 runs from four matches and his bowling hasn’t been pleasing either, as he managed to pick two wickets.
