Ambati Rayudu keen to play cricket for three more years for India: Veteran Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu has announced that he is keen on playing cricket for India in the coming years. While in conversation with the Indian Express, Rayudu revealed that he is working on his fitness to play more cricket.

It is noteworthy that Ambati Rayudu last played for India back in 2019. Though he has been a regular feature of IPL, his India appearance was diminished post-2019. In fact, the Indian selectors overlooked Rayudu for the 2019 World Cup selection, which was surely a disappointing move for the cricketer, following which he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in July 2019.

However, Rayudu in two months time retrieved his decision of retirement and made himself available for the selection. The cricketer is consistently playing IPL since then.

“I would love to keep playing till I am in good form and fit. I will be ready for the next cycle, which is three years and I am working hard on my fitness,” said Ambati Rayudu, as quoted by The New Indian Express.

He further mentioned that he recently played the Vijay Hazare Trophy and felt nice and was in a good shape to continue professional cricket.

“I recently played the Vijay Hazare Trophy which is five one-day games in six days which I got through well. I am in good shape and I hope to continue to play at least for the next three years,” he added.

Despite being a permanent member of Team India’s ODI and T20I squad, a few years back, Rayudu failed to fetch his test cap to which he is disappointed.

“It is a great honor to represent India and I am happy that I represented India in the white ball format-ODI and T20s. I feel unfortunate about missing out on the Test cap. But I don’t regret it as I have given my best. I am happy for the opportunities I got to represent the team and that in itself is a great honor.” he said.
