Andy Flower, Daniel Vettori likely to join Lucknow franchise coaching management.
IPL 2022: The two new Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, have begun their procedures to rope in the coaching management and the three players under the provision of ‘Special Picks’. The two franchises will become functional from the upcoming season of the IPL.
As per the recent development, the Lucknow based new IPL franchise has finalised the two most probable candidates in Daniel Vettori and Andy Flower for the head coach position. Earlier, former World Cup-winning coach for India Gary Kirsten and Trevor Bayliss were also in the eyes of the franchise officials, however, the decision was later withdrawn.
If the experts are believed, former Punjab Kings (PBKS) coach Andy Flower is believed to have a clear edge over Daniel Vettori. The reason for Flower to be the most favourable candidate is his bond with KL Rahul, who is likely to be appointed Lucknow’s captain.
At Punjab Kings (PBKS) KL Rahul and Andy Flower shared a good bond. Both have worked closely together and have a good understanding.
However, for any official development to take place, the two new franchise requires a nod from the BCCI, governing body of the IPL. The Indian cricket board has put all the actions on hold, as of now, due to the issue of CVC Capitals, the winner of Ahmedabad based IPL franchise bid.

CVC Capitals is associated with the big betting companies. The partnership of CVC Capitals with the betting firms is not going well with the BCCI as several questions have been raised by netizens. A proper investigation is being carried out with a panel of neutral judges including the big-wigs of the High Court and Supreme court.
Ravi Shastri likely to be Ahmedabad head coach:
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad based IPL franchise was reported to have approached former India coach Ravi Shastri for the coaching role. Shastri along with Bharat Arun was contacted by the officials of Ahmedabad recently, while the official confirmation is yet to come.
Shastri’s tenure as India’s head coach ended following India’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Post his resignation, Rahul Dravid was appointed for the role.
