Steve Smith: The first Test of the Ashes 2023 is keeping everyone on their toes. The game is evenly poised and we are set for an exciting finish on Day 5 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Australia are 3 down and are 174 runs away from the win whereas England needs 7 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The atmosphere in the stadium has been fantastic as the English crowd has backed their team and has got into the heads of the Australian team. One of the highlights of Day 4 was when they mocked ace Australian batter, Steve Smith, during the fag end of the day.
Steve Smith, who was fielding towards the Eric Hollies stand, didn’t get a great ovation from the crowd. They had a go at him and mocked him, saying “Cry on the telly, we saw you cry on the telly.” The batter nodded his head but English pacer Ollie Robinson, who was batting, enjoyed the moment as he was seen laughing.

Ashes 2023: Steve Smith fails to set the stage on fire in first Test
England managed to keep Steve Smith quiet in the ongoing first Test of the Ashes 2023. The wicket was good for batting and it was expected that the Australian batter would make English bowlers toil hard. But the Ben Stokes-led side had plans in mind and they executed them well to keep him down.
In the first innings, Steve Smith was trapped lbw by Ben Stokes for 16. It was expected that he would play a huge role in the second innings. But Stuart Broad came in as an obstacle as he bowled a staggering delivery and the batter was caught behind for just 6 runs.
