The six-team competition will be critical for all the participating teams as it would give a clear indication of how the respective side would perform on the world stage in the T20 World Cup 2022.

The schedule for the Asia Cup 2022 has already been announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The entire competition will be staged in the UAE, however, the hosting rights will be retained by Sri Lanka.
The decision to shift Asia Cup 2022 from Sri Lanka to the UAE came after the former cricket board chose to postpone its flagship T20 league (Lanka Premier League) due to ongoing political unsettlement in the country.
Six teams will participate in the tournament. While five teams will get a ticket for direct qualification, one fringe Asian side will have to play the qualifying stage and join the other five teams.

Asia Cup 2022 Teams:
As many as six teams will participate in the Asia Cup 2022. As mentioned above, while five teams will get a direct qualification, one team from Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore, and UAE will join the five direct qualifiers after competing in the qualifying round and winning it.
The five direct qualifiers are – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Asia Cup 2022 Format:
This edition’s Asia Cup 2022 is set to be played in the T20 format due to the approaching mega ICC event. In the wake of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Down Under, the officials have decided to host the Asia Cup 2022 in the T20 Format. The last time Asia Cup was held in the T20 format was back in 2016.
Team India are the defending champions of the tournament and are the most crowned side in the Asia Cup.
