ASIA Cricket Council officially announced the UAE as the new venue for ASIA CUP 2022. The good news for the Sri Lanka Cricket control board is that Sri Lanka retains the hosting rights although the ASIA CUP 2022 moved to UAE. This tournament is scheduled to start on Saturday, 27 August.
Asian Cricket Council President, Jay Shah said in a press release on Wednesday – “Every effort was made to host the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the decision to shift the venue to the UAE was taken after much deliberation. The UAE will be the new venue while Sri Lanka will continue to retain hosting rights.”
ASIA Cup will start with the qualification round to select one team from – UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong. There will be a total of 6 teams to play in the contest.
