Indian batter KL Rahul has been in a lot of talks for the last few weeks. There have been quite a few reasons for it. The keeper-batter has been out of the action since IPL 2023 and of late his comeback is something which is the most talked about thing in Indian cricket.

KL Rahul suffered a hip-flexor injury during the IPL. He missed the business end of the tournament and also was ruled out of the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia. In the meantime he underwent surgery and after that, he put hard yards in the NCA in his recovery process.

KL Rahul recently resumed batting in the nets as well as wicketkeeping as he kept his fans updated by posting videos on social media. Recently BCCI also gave an update about his fitness saying that he has resumed batting in nets and is currently undergoing strength and fitness drills.

But despite BCCI giving a fitness update, a report in Cricbuzz suggested that KL Rahul is not fully fit and will be missing the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The reports added that BCCI felt that rushing him into international action straight away with the Asia Cup could be a premature decision.

However, now as per the reports in the Times of India, it is learned that KL Rahul is completely fit and available for selection. He’s likely to be part of the team for the Asia Cup as BCCI wants him to get desired game time before the all-important ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Asia Cup 2023 is just a few weeks away from now. There were a lot of talks and meetings between the ACC, BCCI and PCB related to the venue of the tournament but ultimately it paved the way for the hybrid model. According to which the event will be played in two countries viz Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The tournament will be played from 30th August to 17th September.  Out of 13 games, 4 games will take place in Pakistan whereas 9 games will be played in Sri Lanka.  Coming to the Indian team they will open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 2nd September.

India has been lacking a quality wicketkeeper batter in the middle order but with KL Rahul likely to be back for the team, it’s fair to say that it’ll strengthen the team more.
