In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Pakistan media, it is learned that the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to prepare for the five-team tournament if Asia Cup 2023 doesn’t take place at the neutral venue.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the other hand is not willing to shift the tournament to a neutral venue and therefore they are on the verge of cancelling the competition, which might create difficulties for future events.

The fuss around the Asia Cup 2023 started after BCCI rejected to travel to Pakistan for the tournament due to security reasons and proposed that the event should take place at a neutral venue. But PCB didn’t agree to it and was stern in their statement that they will host the competition in Pakistan itself.

However, after a few discussions, they came up with a hybrid model, which suggested that the entire tournament will be played in Pakistan apart from the India games, which will be played in India. The model was in turn liked by ACC President Jay Shah, who later denied it and was in favour of hosting the entire tournament at a neutral venue.

It is also learned that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) tried to convince the PCB to host the tournament at a neutral venue but the governing body didn’t agree to their demands and was firm on their position.
