In a match against Nepal that was halted by rain on Monday in Pallekele, India was victorious by 10 wickets under the Duckworth/Lewis system thanks to blistering innings from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. As India knocked down the amended 145-run mark in 20.1 overs, both batsmen came back undefeated, Rohit scoring 74(59) and Gill adding 67(62).
When Nepal was given the opportunity to bat first in the game, they gave it their best and managed to score 230 before being bowled out in 48.2 overs. Before Shardul Thakur dismissed Kushal Bhurtel for 38(25), he and Aasif Sheikh had contributed 65 runs to the score for the first wicket.
Ravindra Jadeja joined the party shortly and spearheaded India’s retaliation. Mohammed Siraj added three more wickets to Jadeja’s haul of three. As the first player from Nepal to score a half-century against India, Aasif emerged as the camp’s star batter.
With their fast and careful opening stand, Rohit and Gill have climbed up in the Most Runs tally. There are Four Indian names in TOP 10 of the most run-getters list in this Asia Cup 2023.
Najmul Hossain Santo is still there at the top place with 193 runs followed by Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam(151). For India, Hardik Pandya have scored most runs till now and sits 5th in the table with 87 runs in 1 inning.
Similarly, there is nothing much changed in the top wicket-takers list. India didn’t bowl in the first match against Pakistan. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj are the only two Indians in the TOP 10 Wicket-takers of this Asia Cup 2023.
Shaheen Shah of Pakistan leads the tally with 6 wickets followed by teammate Haris Rauf picking 5 scalps. Jadeja and Siraj have 3-3 wickets in their bags and sit 8th and 9th spot in the tally.
