The Asian Games 2023 is all set to take place in Hangzhou in September and October. Cricket as a sport was inducted into the Asian Games in 2014 but the Indian team didn’t participate in that. However, this time around India will be participating in it with both men’s as well as the women’s team. The men’s competition will begin from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format whereas the women’s tournament will be played from 19th-28th September.
Asian Games 2023: India women’s squad for the Asian Games
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) women on Friday (15th July) named the Indian squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023. The governing body has named a full-strength team for the tournament and there were some big names too that were excluded from the team.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead India’s women team at the Asian Games 2023 whereas Smriti Mandhana has been named as her deputy. The batting department will be boosted by Shafali Varma along with Jemimah Rodrigues as well.
Deepti Sharma is the all-rounder in the team. Whereas Richa Ghosh and Uma Chetry will be the two keepers in the team. Apart from them Amanjot Kaur, Devika Vaidya and Anjali Sarvani too have been named in the squad.

What caught the attention of many was Yastika Bhatia along with Harleen Deol and Pooja Vastrakar were dropped from the main team. In the bowling departed Rajeshwari Gayakwad along with Minnu Mani and Kanika Ahuja have found themselves in the team.
Apart from the main squad BCCI women also included Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Saika Ishaque and Pooja Vastrakar in the standby list.
