The Asian Games 2023 is all set to take place in Hangzhou in September and October. Cricket as a sport was inducted into the Asian Games in 2014 but the Indian team didn’t participate in that. However, this time around India will be participating in it.
Asian Games 2023 will begin on September 28, while the women’s competition will be played from September 19. BCCI has named the Indian squad for both teams and they would be hoping to bring gold medals in both the men as well women’s competitions.
With Asian Games 2023 around the corner, it is learned as per the reports in Times of India that BCCI will be sending VVS Laxman as the head coach of the team for the continental tournament. This is because Rahul Dravid will be part of the main team for the ICC World Cup 2023.
VVS Laxman is likely to be accompanied by the coaching staff from NCA. Along with him Sitanshu Kotak or Hrishikesh Kanitkar (batting) and Troy Cooley or Sairaj Bahutule (bowling) will be there with the team in Ireland. Notably, Laxman has been coaching the team in the absence of Dravid.
