AUS vs PAK 2nd Test: Day 1 Stumps, Australia at 187/3, Pakistani Pacers didn’t Perform Well | Australia vs Pakistan Test Series 2023-24: Australia played good cricket on the Day 1 of the second test match against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Australia lost only three wickets and scored 187 runs on Day 1; however, Marnus Labuschagne is at 44* (120), whereas Travis Head is at 9* (19).
Pakistan failed to get early wickets of Australian openers, and they made a decent partnership of 90 runs in 27.1 overs. Pakistani Pacers disappointed a lot as they failed to put pressure on the hard-hitting pitch of MCG. Spinners performed quite well as Salman Ali Agha got one wicket in just three overs spell on Day 1.
Australian Openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja scored 38 and 42 runs, respectively, and gave the Australian Team early momentum, which helped them to dominate Day 1 against a good bowling attack of Pakistan. Steve Smith failed to score runs and continued his bad form in the test cricket as he got out by scoring just 26 runs in 75 balls.
AUS vs PAK 2nd Test Day 1 Match Summary:
Australia batted first, and their batters played good cricket on Day 1; Australian Openers gave them a decent start. David Warner scored 38 runs in 83 balls with three fours, whereas Usman Khawaja scored 42 runs in 101 balls with five fours. Both the openers scored lots of runs against the Pakistani Pace bowlers.
Pakistani Medium Pacers bowled effectively on Day 1, especially in session 2. Hence, they got a couple of wickets as well. Hasan Ali and Aamer Jamal took one wicket each. Australian Batters Marnus Labuschagne is playing wonderful cricket, scoring 44 runs in 120 balls on Day 1 and is still not out.
The Pitch of Melbourne Cricket Ground didn’t help the Pakistani Pacers with the new ball, but the Medium Pacers got little advantage after the ball got old. Pakistani spinner Salman Ali Agha also bowled well, took one wicket in his three-overs spell on Day 1, and gave 5 runs.
Now, It will be quite challenging for the Australian Batters to play against Pakistani Medium Pacers, but currently, they are in a good position. Pakistan need to play collective cricket and build pressure on Australian Batters to get back in the game; otherwise, the Australian Team will not look back.
