David Warner is facing a problem just one day before the commencement of the third and final test match between Australia and Pakistan. The third test match is also the one in which the Australian legend will say goodbye to his red-ball career. The 37-year-old was looking forward to wearing the baggy green Australian Test cap one last time in the third Test match against Pakistan, but he believes that his Test cap has been stolen.
Warner uploaded a video on his Instagram handle in which he said that the bag that contained his precious Baggy Green and the presents for his daughters had not arrived at the Sydney International Airport from Melbourne, the city where the 2nd Test match between Australia and Pakistan took place. “Hi all, this is my last resort, but my bag, which contained my Baggy Green, has been stolen from my luggage, which was transported to Melbourne airport and flown on Qantas Airlines to Sydney a few days ago,” Warner wrote in the caption of his Instagram post.
“The baggy green is really precious for me. It’s something I’d love to have in my hands while walking out there this week. If it’s the backpack you really wanted, I have a spare one here. You won’t get into any kind of trouble. Please reach out to Cricket Australia or myself via my social media. I’m happy to give this bag to you if you return my Baggy Green.” David Warner said in the video.
The 37-year-old said that he had talked to both Qantas Airlines, which flew the Australian Cricket Team’s bags between Melbourne and Sydney, and Quay West—the Southbank Hotel of Melbourne—and he revealed that, “We’ve gone through CCTV footage; they’ve got some blind spots apparently,” he said. “We’ve spoken to the Quay West hotel, which we absolutely trust; they’ve gone through their cameras, and no one has gone into our rooms.
After hearing the news that David Warner’s baggy green got stolen, Pakistan Captain Shan Masood came out in support of Warner and said, “I think that the Australian Government must execute a countrywide search. We might need the help of the best detectives to bring back David Warner’s Baggy Green.”
“David has been a great ambassador, and he deserves every bit of respect and celebration for the kind of unbelievable career he has had. He’s an example for opening batters, and personally, I love watching him bat and play cricket.” Shan Masood added.
Nick Hockley, the CEO of Cricket Australia, said, “I implore anyone with information about the location of Dave’s bag and baggy green caps to come forward so he (Warner) can proudly wear his cap for a final time at the Sydney Cricket Ground.”
