AUS vs PAK Day 2: A good day of cricket at the MCG and the home side will be the happier side at the stumps of Day 1. It was a rain-halted day where the host got runs flowing with the loss of just 3 wickets. There are again rain threats overheads on Day 2 and here we are with the AUS vs PAK Day 2 Weather Forecast and Pitch Report of Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.

Pakistan chose to bowl first after winning the flip of the coin. Having been dropped down early, David Warner almost made Pakistan pay when he batted long and was removed by the final delivery of the first session, capping a fruitful first session that saw 90 runs scored. Usman Khawaja scored a fluent forty-two to put the off-field drama behind him, but he was one of the three dismissed batsmen.

At the 42nd over, the rain began, costing 15 to 20 overs of play. An early tea was offered. Under the lights, Pakistan tightened up and the batting became more difficult. Nevertheless, Labuschagne and Smith made it through that difficult stage before it started to rain.

The hosts should be able to gain some momentum if they can get this score up to 350 or higher, something Labuschagne and Head have both looked well at. While Shaheen bowled brilliantly but without much success, the other bowlers were decent in spurts.

ACC TO WEATHER.COM, the weather is predicted to be overcast throughout the day. As the weather websites show there are moderate chances of rain for Day 2. A ~40% chance of rain is predicted earlier in the day and drops to ~20% later in the day. It might drizzle in the morning but hopefully ain’t going to interrupt the match later in the day. The Temperature in the morning is expected to be around 21° C and rise to 22° C in the evening.

Winds with a speed of around 15-20KMPH will gust towards the South-West. Humidity will also stay at the higher range of 80% (around 85% in the morning and falls to 77% in the evening). So, the possibilities of rain are there but we can hope for a pretty healthy and decent AUS vs PAK day 2 of the 2nd test match.

AUS vs PAK Day 2 Pitch Report

The MCG pitch is well known for being one of the world’s most competitive pitches. It gives bat and ball the ideal balance, which helps bowlers early on by giving them a reliable, genuine bounce. Batsmen may release their strokes with confidence as the pitch gets older. Still, spinners usually get little help at this venue.

The pitch used for this contest has comparatively less grass and the ball was coming nice on the bat. Pakistani bowlers were quite disciplined throughout the day. They were able to find swing and seam, some uneven bounce and it’s made batting a tough proposition.
