However, McMullen received little support from his teammates, mirroring the previous day’s performance. His dismissal—courtesy of a superb catch by Travis Head—marked a turning point for Scotland. The team’s scoring rate plummeted, managing just 17 runs in the final four overs while losing four wickets, leaving them with a total of 149 on the board.
In response, Scotland’s bowlers made an early impact, exploiting swing to dismiss Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck. Travis Head followed shortly after, leaving Australia at 45/2 at the end of the powerplay. Cam Green and Mitch Marsh stabilized the chase for Australia despite the early setbacks.
