Australia vs India 1st Test: Australia thrashed India by 8 wickets in the first Test Match

Australia vs India 1st Test: Joe Burns hitting the winning runs for Australia as the home team brutally thrashed India by 8 wickets in the first test match at Adelaide.

After a bit of lanky show by the Australian batsmen in the first innings, bowlers took the charge of the 2nd innings for Australia. Pat Cummins started removing Indian batsmen from one end while the other end was handled by Josh Hazlewood.

Both the pacers took nine wickets together in inside one hour of play on the third day. Hazlewood picked five-for while Pat Cummins took 4 scalps.

Indian batters could not absorb the shock from Australian bowlers as none of the batsmen touched double-digit runs. Mayank Agarwal’s 9 from 40 being the highest form the Indian side.

Matthew Wade and Joe Burns opened the innings for Australia and played comfortably. Both the openers amassed 70 runs for the first wicket almost confirming the victory before Wade got run out.

Joe Burns completed his much-needed half-century with Steve Smith appearing to play just one ball.

Australian skipper Tim Paine was the “Man of the Match” for his brilliant knock in the first innings to reach close to the Indian total. Paine remained 73 not out in the first innings of Australia.

Twitter’s Reaction to India’s Performance:

Shoaib Akhtar: I woke up & saw the score 369. I couldn’t believe it. Then i washed my eyes and saw the score 36/9. I couldn’t believe it either & went back to sleep.

Virender Sehwag: The OTP to forget this is 49204084041 .

Shane Warne: Wow!! What a bowling display that was from Pat Cummins & Josh Hazlewood here in Adelaide. Just outstanding. Have to feel for the Indian batsman as never saw that coming – it was one of those days where the batsman nicked everything & didn’t play and miss at all ! Unbelievable…

Aakash Chopra: Pitch has misbehaved slightly in only one of the 29 dismissals thus far. The one that kept low to Labuchange yesterday.
