Australia vs India: Opener Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill breaks records with a solid opening stand.

Australia vs India 3rd Test Match: Team India came up with the new opening pair this time after failing twice previously in the series against Australia. Experienced white-ball opener Rohit Sharma was now promoted to open the innings along with young Shubman Gill.

This was the first time Rohit Sharma came to open the innings in test cricket in foreign conditions.

Both the openers looked confident throughout and took India off to a solid start in the third test match at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Shubman Gill scored 50 runs while Rohit Sharma amassed 26 runs for the first wicket stand at SCG.

The first wicket of the visitors fell in 27th over when the score was 70 runs. This confident start in overseas conditions broke many records.

Rohit Sharma got caught and bowled to Josh Hazlewood providing Australia the first breakthrough. Shubman Gill scored his maiden half-century has was immediately caught after the ball picked the edge of the bat.

Later stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara took control till the end of Day 2. India is trailing with 242 runs with Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara standing strong at the crease.
