The Indian dashing opener Rohit Sharma and speedster Ishant Sharma will miss out on the first two Tests against Australia, however, the remaining two test matches are still on the black clouds. Both the Indian veteran players are at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore headed by director Rahul Dravid.
Rohit and Ishant have already missed the limited-overs leg against Kangaroos which will start on 27th November with ODIs.
Rohit has suffered a Left hamstring injury while Ishant has a side strain to get fit for the series. Both the players were asked to leave for Australia once they gets fit.
“The NCA has given a report that both Rohit and Ishant will take at least another 3 to 4 weeks to get match fit,” a Board source told PTI on Tuesday.
“Even if they fly to Australia now, they will have to undergo hard Quarantine rules set by the Australian Government. 14-days mandatory quarantine and they will not be able to attend any practice session.”
“The case if Cricket Australia can convince the government to let them practice during the quarantine can help.”
Earlier in an Interview, Rohit Sharma addressed that his hamstring is fine now. A little bit of work is to be done on the strength and conditioning part. He also talked about the batting position. He says he can bat at any given position and where the management wants.
Team India’s head coach, Ravi Sashtri already told that if both the players need to play test matches, they need to take the flight in the next three-four days. Otherwise, the quarantine rules will make it difficult for the boys.
“If you need to play in the Test series or any red-ball cricket, you’ve got to be on the flight in the next three or four days. If you aren’t, then it’s going to be tough,” he had said.
Australia and India will play 4 matches Test series starting from December 17. The first will be played in Adelaide, followed by Melbourne. Sydney will host the third test while Brisbane will conduct the final test match.
Before the Test series both the teams are scheduled to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
