Australia vs India: Team India’s injury woes will give an edge to Australia in the 4th test: Ricky Ponting.

Australia vs India: Former Australian captain and batsman Ricky Ponting feels India’s injury concerns will give an edge to Aussies in the last test match at Brisbane. Australia always keeps an upper hand at Gaba and has an exceptional record and injury woes to India will strengthen Aussies determination more.

India showed a tremendous character and grit to hung on the game for a draw in the 5th day of the test. Hanuma Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin defended the innings in pain to bring back India into the game. The fourth and last test begin on January 5 at Brisbane’s Gaba.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffered a thumb dislocation and fracture while Hanuma Vihari sustained a hamstring injury in the penultimate test match ruling them out of the last test match.

Australian Young debutant Will Pucovski once again went for the scans as he took a blow on his shoulders and his scan reports are awaited.

Australia will have an edge: Ricky Ponting

“Australia will have the edge going to Brisbane,” Ponting told cricket.com.au.

“Australia’s record at Gaba is exemplary and if Will is good to play then they won’t have to make any changes to the side, and if Pucovski is not available then they will have to make a single change which is pretty acceptable. Overall I feel that Australia will dominate Indians in the last test match.”

“India again are going to have a couple of injury concerns out of this game so they’ve got to find another couple of guys to bring in.”

From a total of 55 games played here in Brisbane’s Gaba, Australia has won 33, 13 resulted in a draw while lost 8 games.

Team India will have to do a lot of permutation and combinations to the side as Jadeja and Vihari are out of the test match. As not much of the options are left with the visitors, Shardul Thakur is likely to be called in for Ravindra Jadeja while Mayank Agarwal and Wriddhiman Saha are the possible replacement for Hanuma Vihari.
