BBL 2022-23 has been scheduled from 13 December 2022 to 4 February 2023. Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed season 12 of the Big Bash League (BBL), Australia’s domestic T20 tournament. BBL 2022-23 is set to be played in its traditional window which starts in mid-December and stretches till the first week of February. The eight-team tournament will see the curtain-raiser fixture on December 13 in Canberra and the final will be staged on February 4, next year.
As many as 56 matches will be held in the league stage with each team playing 14 round-robin matches. Following the completion of the league stages, a five-match knock-out series will be held between the qualifying teams to get the winner of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23.
Cricket Australia (CA) has decided to make use of 13 cities to host the elite BBL 2022-23. The governing body has added three more venues to the list this year – Lavington Sports Ground in Albury, Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, and North Sydney Oval.
Perth Scorchers are the reigning champions of the tournament while Sydney Sixers are the runner-ups.
Sydney Thunder will face Melbourne Stars in the season opener on December 13 at Manuka Oval while the defending champions will face Sydney Sixers on December 17.
