BCCI adds Navdeep Saini and Jayant Yadav to India’s ODI squad against South Africa: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have added pacer Navdeep Saini and spin all-rounder, Jayant Yadav, to the Indian squad for the three matches ODI series against South Africa following the injury reports.
Jayant Yadav has been named cover of all-rounder Washington Sundar, who has been ruled out of the South Africa ODI tour after contracting COVID19. Sunder, earlier, tested covid positive and subsequently ruled out of the tour.
Navdeep Saini, on the other hand, is named as the backup for speedster Mohammad Siraj, who is still recovering after pulling his hamstring. Notably, Siraj picked up a hamstring injury during the second test match and was ruled out of the final test match at Newlands, Cape Town.
If Mohd Siraj fails to prove his fitness until the beginning of the ODI series, Navdeep Saini will be added to the Indian squad.

The three matches ODI series begins on January 19th in Boland Park, Paarl. The second fixture is also set to be played in Boland Park on 21st Jan while the final will be held in Cape Town on January 23rd.
Young pacer Navdeep Saini has been in-and-out of the Indian limited-overs side for a while now. Until the year 2020, his brilliant bowling almost cemented his position in the team, however, the lack of consistency and untimely injuries played a spoilsport.
Saini played his last ODI match against Sri Lanka, last year. He featured in the final ODI match against Sri Lanka but remained wicketless.
Off-spinner Jayant Yadav will also be making his ODI comeback after five years. He played his only One Day match in 2016. He recently made his Test comeback as well, last year, after a long gap of four years.
