IPL 2021: BCCI allows India England players Bubble-to-Bubble transfer for IPL 2021.
IPL 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday released the Standard Operating Protocols (SOP) for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to which players associated with the India-England series will be exempted to undergo mandatory seven days quarantine protocol.
As per the SOPs for the fourteenth edition of IPL, players who are a part of the India versus England series can head directly to the bio-bubble of their respective IPL franchise. The rule will only be applied to the players who will prefer bubble to bubble transfer.
Also, the BCCI has also clarified that players associated with the IPL will not be vaccinated as the Government has made some guidelines and we all have to adhere to that.
“Players who are coming from bubble created for India vs England series may directly join the franchise squad without serving mandatory quarantine period provided.
“After the conclusion of the series, they directly move to team hotel either by bus or chartered flight…if travel arrangements are to the satisfaction of CMO, such players can directly enter team bubble without need to serve quarantine or undergo RT PCR tests,” the SOP stated.
The protocols will also be valid for the franchisees that have organised the camps, the players will be entitled to the bubble-to-bubble transfer if all the travel arrangements of the franchise are satisfactory.
The SOPs released by the BCCI further stated that if the CMO is not satisfied with the arrangements, players of that franchise has to undergo mandatory seven days quarantine and bring three negative reports in due course.
The SOP also mentioned that the government has till now not provided any information regarding the vaccination of the cricketers and staff members.
As of now, India is under its second phase of covid-19 vaccination which entitles people above 60 years and the person from 45 to 59 years with comorbid conditions. The first phase started with the vaccination of frontline and healthcare workers in the country. The government is yet to announce the schedule of the next phase of vaccination.
