Vivo IPL 2021: BCCI president Sourav Ganguly heaped praises on young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant said he is “obsessed” with his style of batting and the dashing cricketer is an “absolute match-winner.”

The former Indian skipper said he loves the way the current Indian skipper and his white ball deputy bats.

“There are some fantastic players and I think as President of the Board I should not say who is my favourite player. All are favourite to me but I enjoy Kohli, I enjoy Rohit Sharma,” Ganguly said during an interactive session organised by the online tutorial app, Classplus.

“I am really obsessed with Rishabh Pant’s batting, he has transformed himself to a match-winner for India and his IPL franchise. I like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami. Sardul Thakur, because he has guts and is brave to execute things.”

The 48-years old said India has an immense talent pool. And the best of the best are getting into the side.

“There is immense cricketing talent in India. When Sunil Gavaskar retired, everyone thought who would take over. Then came Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble. When all these retired Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant took over.”

“There is so much talent for cricket in India that I think it will produce world-beaters in every generation.”

Sourav Ganguly recalled his time when he was picked in Australia’s tour in 1992:

Ganguly was named for India’s tour to Australia back in 1992 and didn’t get a single opportunity to feature. He recalled the moment and said how that series helped him to be a better cricketer in the following years.

“The 1992 series in Australia was a failure for me. I didn’t get enough opportunity to play. But that time I was young and learned a lot of things from that series.”

“I came back strongly. I became fit and went on to work on my physical and mental fitness for over 3-4 years so that I can last long in the international format for the country.”

The former Indian skipper was recently admitted to the hospital for two rounds of angioplasty after complaints of chest pain.

“I am absolutely fine and fit. I am back to the basics and doing all those things I used to do before that,” said Ganguly on his fitness.
