India's poor show in the last few months have drawn a lot of criticism from all over the world. That is why the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also decided to take some hard steps going forward. India were blown away by New Zealand at home 0-3, which is the first time that Team India faced a series clean sweep at home in a Test series.

Meanwhile, some media reports also indicated that the BCCI is not happy with the performance, and they will take some hard steps forward. As reported by Dainik Jagran, the BCCI might bring back the former rule where players were not allowed to take their wives or girlfriends on the tours. This rule was dumped during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Indian board believes it accompanying the family on tours affects the performances. The rule indicates that if the tour is of 45 days or more, then a player can stay with family for 14 days. Meanwhile, if the tour is shorter, then the rule is applicable for seven days. The rule also implies that all players will have to travel with the team, not alone.
A report from Indian Express also suggests that the BCCI might apply the rule of pay cut. That will be applicable on the basis of the player's performance. The report quotes, "It was suggested that players should be held accountable, and if their performances are not up to the mark, they should face variable pay reductions."

Due to this, he missed the opening Test-Match in Hyderabad but after sorting out the problems, he played in the remaining matches of the series.

Although the ECB has not commented on this entire matter, the board still hopes that Saqib will land on Indian soil before the start of the first T20I between the Suryakumar Yadav-led team and England. Adil Rashid has played a lot of matches on Indian soil so his visa was never an issue while Rehan also played the Test-Series in India last year so his case is pretty clear too.

Former Indian cricketers in Sunil Gavaskar and Irfan Pathan named their Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. What caught the attention of many was that they didn't name Axar Patel and instead went in with Nitish Kumar Reddy as the all-rounder in the team.

The India squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is keeping many engaged. The deadline given by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the squad announcement was on Sunday (12th January), and it has passed with no signs of the Indian team. 
Earlier, there were reports that BCCI had asked for extra time from the ICC as they needed to discuss the team, especially after they returned after the hectic Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. However, this isn't the exact reason why they haven't announced the squad. 
The real reason behind that, as revealed by Dainik Jagran, is that BCCI is awaiting the fitness report of the two key players Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. The two players have been injured, and there are a lot of speculations about their fitness for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. 
Bumrah got injured during the Sydney Test and has been suffering from the back spasms. There have been various reports that revealed that the pacer might miss the league stage of the tournament and will be back to 100% fitness by the start of March. 
Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, has been recovering from the surgery he underwent for a groin injury. The leg-spinner is awaiting fitness reports, which might come by the end of this month. The wrist spinner is likely to be picked in the Indian team for England series before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as well.

Skipper Rohit Sharma will be leading the team, and there are chances that young players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, and others might get a nod ahead. 
India is placed in Group A of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They will be first taking on Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in the tournament.
