Best of three for ICC World Test Championship Final, not a realistic idea, says ICC.
The Best of three games option for the ICC World Test Championship Final is not a feasible decision, says the cricket’s global body.
The ICC on Monday cleared that scheduling the three games for one final in a packed international calendar was not a realistic option.
India and New Zealand will fight out the final of the ICC World Test Championship beginning June 18th at Rose Bowl Southampton.
Several cricket pundits believed that a best of three games could have been a better idea for deciding the test champions. Indian coach Ravi Shastri was one of them who supported the idea for a two year’s long championship.
ICC acting CEO Geoff Allardice said that would be possible only “in a perfect world”.

“The reality of the international cricket schedule is that we’re not going to have that month or so, blocking out a month or so for all the teams in the tournament for a final…,” Allardice told a virtual news conference. “That’s why (a) one-match final was decided upon.”
The two year’s long championship was rolled out back in 2019 to decide the World Test Champions.
Besides India and New Zealand, Australia and England were two other teams who fought hard to find a place in the finals.
“We were really pleased with the way it played out,” Allardice said of the qualification process.
“It was obvious that the interest in certain series wasn’t just restricted to the two teams involved, ” he said. “It was coming from all over the cricketing world and I think to bring that sort of context to test cricket is a real step forward.”
