India?s Cricket Governing Body, the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a victory-parade for the Indian Cricket Team in honour of them lifting the Men?s T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in the West Indies.



The Men in Blue will arrive in India?s Capital city - Delhi on Thursday of this week after beating Aiden Markram's South Africa by a margin of seven runs in a really entertaining Men?s T20 World Cup 2024 final in the city of Barbados on 29th of June.



After lifting their second T20 World Cup trophy, the Men in Blue were stuck in Barbados due to the threat of a hurricane. The BCCI then arranged a special Air India charter flight for the entire team members and support staff members to help them travel back to?India?safely.



The Indian Cricket Team will land in India?s capital city of Delhi at 6 AM on Thursday of this week. They will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for breakfast at 11:00 AM. Following their meeting with the PM, the Rohit Sharma-led team will travel to Mumbai in chartered flight for the?victory?parade.



The Indian Cricket Governing Body will also be felicitating and honouring the Men in Blue with a massive prize pool of 125 Crore Indian Rupees at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede?Stadium.

The Indian team finally ended their ICC trophy drought and became the new World T20 Champions. <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/3-star-might-not-play-ind-vs-zim-series/" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/3-star-might-not-play-ind-vs-zim-series/">Rohit Sharma</a> was only the fourth Indian captain to lead the nation to their fourth ICC title. It was a complete team effort by the team, and everyone chipped in with their performances.



Virat Kohli, who was having a poor tournament, scored a valuable 76 off 59 in the final to take India to a respective total, and the bowling unit led by Jasprit Bumrah did the damage later on. India registered a 7-run win, and Virat was named Man of the Match, while Jasprit Bumrah won Player of the Tournament for his brilliant performances. The ace pacer performed consistently throughout the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

After the game, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their T20I retirements. Rohit was the top scorer for India in the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India_at_the_ICC_Men%27s_T20_World_Cup" data-type="link" data-id="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India_at_the_ICC_Men%27s_T20_World_Cup">ICC T20 World Cup 2024</a>. He scored 257 runs in nine innings at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.70, with three half-centuries.



Meanwhile, Bumrah ended up taking 15 wickets at an incredible economy rate of 4.17. It was the lowest in the tournament. Bumrah also bowled a brilliant spell of 2/18 in the final and changed the game. However, Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar feels that someone else other than Bumrah deserves the Player of the Tournament award.

In an interview with Sports Today, he was asked about a standout performer for India; he didn't pick Bumrah. He praised the pacer but said that the Indian captain was the standout performer for his individual performance and captaincy.



Gavaskar said, "Jasprit Bumrah, who absolutely totally deserved to be the 'Player of the Tournament', the main man running the show, was Rohit Sharma. So Rohit's captaincy is something that has to be admired because never once during tense situations did his body language go down."

India were in a drought for ICC trophies since 2013 and after 11 long years, India finally lifted an ICC trophy and the drought is over. In contrast, South Africa are yet to win any ICC Trophy. This was the first time when they reached the finals of the ICC T20 event.

England were impressive after their poor start to the tournament. They reached the semifinals but got their match up against India and India were the toughest opponent in this tournament. They are third in the latest updated rankings with a rating of 253.



West Indies are ranked fourth with 252 ratings and they are followed by South Africa. The Proteas were exceptionally brilliant in the tournament. They went undefeated throughout the tournament and gave a tough fight to India in the finals. They are ranked fifth in the latest ICC T20I Team Rankings.
