<p><strong>ICC WTC Points Table:</strong> England's home season is being fruitful for them as they have claimed their fourth win in a row. The home team England have won the first Test against Sri Lanka and are 1-0 up in the series. This series of wins has put England from the last position to the Top 4 ranks in the Latest Updated ICC WTC points table 2023-25.</p>

<p>Sri Lanka are on a tour of England for a series of three test matches. The absence of Ben Stokes was one of the major concerns for the English Team coming to this Test Series but Olie Pope and his leadership skills never made us miss Stokes.</p>

<p>The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first. They didn't receive a warm welcome from the home side as England pushed Sri Lanka into terrible situation in the first half hour only. Sri Lanka lost three wickets within 7 overs of the day with just 6 runs on the board. </p>

<p>Sri Lanka were not allowed to make a comeback against the fiery English bowling attack but later assault by skipper Dhananjaya De Silva and <a href="https://www.cricbuzz.com/profiles/39678/milan-rathnayake">Milan Rathnayake</a> added individual 70+ runs and Sri Lanka ended their first innings at 260 runs. </p>



<p>England also lost wickets in regular intervals, nevertheless, the overtook Sri Lanka by 57th over. The maiden century by wicketkeeper batter James Smith was the dominating factor for England in the first innings. Riding over his crucial innings England were 122 runs in lead after first innings.</p>



<p>Again, in the second innings, Sri Lanka lost two wickets within 10 balls and England were simply on the driving seat. Angilo Methews, and Dinesh Chandimal showed the fighting spirit and they took Sri Lanka to lead again. Kamindu Mendis came again for rescue and smashed a valient century to give Sri Lanka some space to defend in the fourth innings.</p>

<p>England needed to chase 205 runs in the fourth innings and they got a fluent start to ease things off. Joe Root led the England's innings with his not-out 62 and with the loss of five wickets, England took just 57 overs to chase down the target and sealed the match.</p>

<p>After being bundled out for a mere score of 150 runs in the 1st inning on the first day of the Perth Test-Match, the Men in Blue brought their A game forward and turned things around as they initiated an all-out on the Aussies for 104 runs and managed to take a decent first-inning lead of 46 runs.</p>



<p>Captain Jasprit Bumrah wrecked havoc with the ball registering yet another five-wicket-haul and ended the first inning with figures of 5-30 next to his name. <p>In the 2nd inning of the Perth Test-Match, the Jasprit Bumrah-led team put up a masterclass with the bat, with the opening duo of KL Rahul (77 runs in 176 deliveries) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (161 runs in 297 balls) stitching a mammoth partnership of 201 runs for the opening wicket, the highest ever opening wicket stand by an Indian batting pair in the history of the Border-Gavaskar-Trophy in Australia.</p>



<p>22-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal's 161 run knock helped him the become just the second batter ever in the history of the sport to convert his first 4 Test Cricket tons into 150s. This knock of the Southpaw played a crucial role in helping his side win the Perth Test-Match</p>



<p>Legendary batsman Virat Kohli also managed to bring up his highly-awaited 30th century in the longest format of the game, going past the tally of Legendary Australian batsman Don Bradman.<br>In order to score some quick runs, Kohli got involved in a really good partnership of 77 runs in just 52 deliveries with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy (38" Runs) before the Men in Blue declared their second inning for a mammoth score of 487-6. The Indians set a huge target of 534 runs for the Aussies, their highest ever in the history of the longest format of the game versus their fierce-rivals.</p>



<p>A defeat for the Kangaroos was guaranteed as their batters didn't look comfortable at all out their in the middle versus the Indian bowling unit and eventually they got all-out for a score of 238 runs, suffering a defeat by a margin of 295 runs.</p>
