T20 World Cup 2024: There are clouds looming over Pakistani star pacer Haris Rauf’s selection in the T20 World Cup 2024. In fact, he suffered a shoulder injury while playing Pakistan Super League (PSL), after which he was ruled out of the tournament. According to reports, the injury was not very serious but his not returning to the squad till now could create problems for him.
You can guess the seriousness of the 30-year-old fast bowler’s injury from the fact that he is out of the Pakistan vs New Zealand series being played on Pakistani soil.
Haris was in NCA for the last few months under the supervision of the medical team of Pakistan Cricket Board, where he has been given the green signal. Rauf is now also doing gym training.
The Pakistani right-hand pacer is on the radar of Pakistan selection committee for the T20 World Cup 2024 starting in the month of June. But his selection now depends on his bowling in the coming days.
During the press conference, Pakistani Chief Selector Wahab Riaz, while mentioning the fitness of Harris Rauf, said “probably be fit for the England series”.
The T20 World Cup squad submission deadline is May 1st, but modifications can be made until May 25th of that same month. After that, any changes to the squad will require permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Before the T20 World Cup, Pakistan will play a three-match T20I series against Ireland and a four-match T20I series against England. After the England series, Pakistan team will leave for the World Cup in USA.
