Cricketers reaction to Virat Kohli’s sudden decision to quit Test captaincy: The unexpected moves are often known to shake the entire world associated with it. The recent decision of Virat Kohli to abruptly announce his test captaincy retirement has done the same for the cricket fraternity. While no one expected this to happen, Virat dropped a bombshell and brought everyone on their toes.
Some associate this with the saga happening between Virat and the BCCI following the white ball captaincy change, while some glorify it as Virat wants to focus immensely on his batting. But amidst all this, we do know that we have lost our aggressive, most successful test captain, an Indian all-format captain to be precise.
Just around one year ago, or five months earlier, Virat was leading India in all three formats and fast forward to now, he has stepped down from all the formats, even the franchise cricket.
Virat has dropped his captaincy hat as India’s most successful test captain with 40 wins in 68 matches. His mentality of winning the games outside India is something Indians had never seen before him. He instilled fear in the brains of the opposing team while making his teammates believe that they can achieve even the unachievable.
The former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli was a kind of personality that threatens the opposition even though his team is going through a rough patch. There is a lot to say, but nothing much we can do about this.
His sudden call to relinquish his captaincy brought up reactions from every individual who knew a little of cricket. Here we will take a look at the top reactions from the cricket fraternity following Virat’s abrupt decision of quitting Test Captaincy.
Indian white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his shock but congratulated Kohli on a wonderful career as Indian captain.
“Shocked!! But congratulations on a successful stint as Indian captain. @virat. kohli,” wrote Rohit Sharma, sharing a image of him and Virat Kohli in India’s whites.

Legendary cricketer, Viv Richards also reflected back and congratulated Virat on his successful run as Indian captain.
Former Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri, who along with Virat formed up this ruthless Indian test unit, said: “Virat, you can go with your head held high. Few have achieved what you have as captain. Definitely India’s most aggressive and successful. Sad day for me personally as this is the team we built together.”
