CSK Captain MS Dhoni to retire after IPL 2023? Moeen Ali responds: CSK captain MS Dhoni’s retirement plans are always one of the hottest topics for the fans and cricket pundits to discuss. During the last season of the IPL, a few experts claimed that IPL 2022 could possibly be the end of MS Dhoni’s IPL career, but to everyone’s surprise, MS Dhoni returned to IPL 2023 for his yellow franchise.
Now, even though Dhoni has maintained silence on the topic, a few rumours reckon IPL 2023 to be MS Dhoni’s final season in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, a few strong words are fired by MS Dhoni’s CSK teammate Moeen Ali, who feels his captain can easily feature in the next season of the IPL.
“He could definitely play again next year,” Moeen was quoted as saying by ‘ESPNcricinfo’. “The way he’s playing, I don’t think it’ll be his batting that stops him from playing, even if it’s in two, three years’ time.”
Notably, MS Dhoni played an excellent innings to keep CSK in the game against Rajasthan Royals, a few days ago. CSK was in a dire situation against RR and desperately required some big shots and MS Dhoni rightly stood up and played an unbeaten 32-run knock in just 17 balls.
“I wasn’t surprised at how he played (against Rajasthan Royals). I’ve been watching him in the nets, and he’s been batting unbelievably well. It’s just amazing to see somebody at that age. It’s not easy when you come in so late – people forget that a lot of the time, but that’s what makes him so good at his role,” Moeen Ali added.
Interestingly, CSK Captain himself spilt the beans over his retirement plans ahead of the RCB vs CSK game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium saying, there is still a lot of time left in the ongoing IPL 2023 to take a call.
“There is lots of time to take that [Retirement] call. Right now, we have lots of games [in IPL 2023], and the coach will be under pressure if I say something,” Dhoni said during a CSK event ahead of the highly anticipated RCB vs CSK clash on Monday.
