CSK vs LSG: KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pulled off a brilliant run-chase to defeat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk Stadium, last night. The visitors hunt down the massive 210-run target in the final over the of innings, with Marcus Stoinis playing a sublime knock to take his side, Lucknow Super Giants, home.
The fixture between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants had every bit of entertainment for the fans as they witnessed two centuries in a single game.
While CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a brilliant ton in the first innings, LSG all-rounder Marcus Stoinis produced a fantastic effort to score an unbeaten 124 runs in the second innings.
Despite not getting off to a brilliant start, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) managed their way throughout the second innings after being given the target of 210 runs by CSK.
KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock were removed cheaply by the CSK bowlers and followed it with the scalp of impact substitute Devdutt Padikkal soon. Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran tried to bring the situation back under control with their steady partnership. The two batters stitched a 70-run partnership before CSK removed Nicholas Pooran.
However, Stoinis remained firm at his end. To complete his magnificent ton and take his side home, he was accompanied by Deepak Hooda, who scored 6 ball 17 run knock. LSG got over the rope by six wickets against CSK in match 39 of the IPL 2024.

LSG now owns the record of the highest successful chase at the Chepauk Stadium. Earlier CSK held the record of 206 runs chased against RCB at the Chepauk Stadium in 2012.
Marcus Stoinis scored an unbeaten 124 runs, which now becomes the highest individual score in IPL run-chases. He surpassed Paul Valthaty’s 120* run knock.
LSG also becomes the first team in the IPL 2024 to register a defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk Stadium.
Lucknow doubled down on the trouble for CSK as this was their second victory over CSK in the span of 5 days. Earlier KL Rahul-led LSG defeated CSK at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 19.
210 against CSK is now LSG’s third-biggest chase in the IPL history. The two others are 213 vs RCB in 2023 and 2011 vs CSK in 2022.
