Vivo IPL 2021: Daniel Sams re-joins the RCB squad after returning covid-negative.
Vivo IPL 2021: Australia and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricketer Daniel Sams has re-joined his franchise camp after testing covid-negative on Saturday. RCB confirmed the development through their social media post.
Sams came in contact with the virus before the start of the Indian Premier League 2021 and has been in isolation since then. RCB had said that the cricketer was first tested negative upon arriving however his second covid report turned positive.
“We are pleased to inform that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Daniel Sams has joined RCB bio-bubble on 17th with a negative report of Covid-19,” read a statement from RCB management on Saturday.
“RCB medical team was in constant touch with Sams to ensure his safety and declared him fit to join the team after all the required examinations as a part of BCCI protocol,” it added.
Sams was the second RCB player who was infected with the dreaded virus. Star opener Devdutt Padikkal earlier was also tested covid-positive however he recovered well in time and has featured in the last two games for RCB.
According to the SOPs regulated by BCCI, any player who has been tested covid-positive must be isolated for a minimum of 10 days outside the bio-bubble of the squad. During those isolation days, the player is advised to take ample rest and avoid exercise.
If in any case, the condition of the infected player worsens, he must be hospitalised in the given hospitals for further aid.
