David Warner, Anrich Nortje to be available from April 7 in the IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting confirms the availability of Anrich Norjte and David Warner in the upcoming matches of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Nortje and Warner are expected to be available in Delhi’s next IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 7 in Mumbai.

South African pacer Anrich Nortje hasn’t played any cricket since his last appearance in the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE. The pacer suffered a hip injury, owing to which he was ruled out of the majority of the cricket action in between. However, Delhi Capitals confirmed that Anrich Nortje has resumed bowling in the nets and will be available for selection in the next match.

“I think he has to get through another maybe four or five-over spell at 100 per cent capacity and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go,” Ponting said.

Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) will play its next IPL match after a break of 5 days. DC will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 7 in the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai.

“We have got a few more days before our next game, so hopefully he is available for selection for that one.”

Ponting also confirmed that David Warner has landed in Mumbai and will be undergoing his mandatory quarantine before he meets his teammates. Meanwhile, all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh is expected to be available from April 10.

Marsh picked up a hip strain and is still in the recovery process.

“Davey should be there for the next game and Mitch Marsh for the game after,” Ponting said.

“He (Marsh) picked up that slight hip flexor strain in Pakistan. So we need to get a lot of treatment work into him and obviously a few good training sessions before he is available for selection.”

Delhi currently stands at fourth position in the Tata IPL 2022 points table with 2 points from 2 matches. The franchise won its first match against Mumbai Indians but bowed down against Gujarat Titans (GT), last night.

Hardik Pandya spearheaded Gujarat Titans won against Delhi Capitals by 14 runs following the heroics of Kiwi pacer Lokie Ferguson. The pacer picked up four wickets from his four-over spell and was also adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’.
